Christmas in the British Virgin Islands has never been so delicious.

Here are a few of our favorites:

Prickly pear liquor

A traditional festive tipple on the islands, Prickly Pear liquor is made from the pink juice of the prickly pear cactus. Both naturally high in nutrients and antioxidants and low in calories, the cactus juice becomes Prickly Pear Liquor by adding vodka, water, sugar, and spices. Easy to make and delicious.

Guavaberry rum

With its spicy, fruity, bitter yet sweet flavor, guavaberry rum is a popular and cherished drink during Christmas in the British Virgin Islands. Centuries ago, people in the Caribbean crafted a festive alcoholic drink using guavaberries. By mixing the berries with rum and sugar, guavaberry rum was born and remains a special, celebratory drink across the Caribbean today.

Black cake

Black cake is a traditional dessert during Christmas time in the BVI and the rest of the Caribbean. Decadent and tropical, the dark color of this indulgent, rich, and boozy cake comes from the browning sauce, wine-soaked dried fruit and, of course, plenty of rum.

The St. Bernard’s Hill House signature Christmas cake

Black cake is loved and enjoyed across the Caribbean, so our signature treat had to be inspired by this decadent dessert. The St. Bernard’s Hill House Signature Christmas Cake is a black cake cookie filled with festive flavors.

Presented in the shape of the beautiful St. Bernard’s Hill House Allamanda flower, the black cake cookie is dipped in a white chocolate and Ponche Kuba, a spiced rum-based cream liquor, sauce. Simply delicious.

The St. Bernard’s Hill House signature Christmas cocktail

Influenced by the traditional guavaberry drink and Las-sin-jah, larger-than-life peppermint, the St. Bernard’s Hill House Signature Christmas Cocktail features all the flavors of Christmas. Sourced locally, the guavaberry rum is made by blanching the guavaberries in hot water and soaking them in rum and sugar for several months. The St. Bernard’s Hill House Signature Christmas Cocktail is served neat with a dusting of locally made peppermint around the rim of the glass.
